Emtez Iberica Doubles Operational Capacity to Drive Spanish Manufacturing Growth

From one small manufacturing process, Emtez Iberica has doubled its capacity. What does its new, sizable operation mean for its customers and Spanish manufacturing?

As recently as a few months ago, Emtez Iberica was still operating out of a small site with distribution capabilities and one manufacturing facility for booms and berms products.

It was a modest setup, and yet, from this hub, the team operating there has been able to serve its customers across Spain with the safety and security consumables they need to protect their people, minimise operational risk, and keep the environment clean.

With this in mind, why has the site needed to expand? What new benefits will the facilities grant to Emtez customers, and what does it mean for the future of Spanish manufacturing?

Expansion in the face of adversity

In recent years, challenges have mounted for manufacturers around the world. From energy shortages and rising operating costs to global supply chain disruption, maintaining uptime has been an uphill struggle, never mind doing so safely, within the realms of compliance.

  • Fluctuations in uptime and machine handling increase general operating risk.
  • Supply chain disruptions can lead to delivery delays for essential safety equipment.
  • Accident prevention strategies require reassessment to maintain effectiveness.

In this environment, expansion is not just a means by which Emtez Iberica can reach and serve more customers but a way of improving its ability to serve its existing buyers. Greater capacity means it can maintain higher stock levels of essential safety equipment such as the booms and berms it has always manufactured on-site. Higher stock levels mean it can dispatch orders more quickly and with less risk of being unable to fulfil standing orders.

A bigger site footprint has enabled Emtez Iberica to install two new processing machines, but it has also allowed the business to reassess how it manufactures these products.

A smarter, more efficient way to expand

The new Emtez Iberica site is bigger than the previous location, but crucially, it is also smarter.

Working in collaboration with the group programme director, the Spanish leadership team took the opportunity presented by the site move to identify where they could not just expand but innovate. Steel manufacturing isn’t the only new capability built into the operations.

“The booms and berms manufacturing process was quite manual before,” the group programme director reveals. “The new machines change that, adding in new levels of automation to deliver an up-charge in capacity through greater efficiency. This was one of the key reasons for the site move; we didn’t have the space for this previously.”24

Giving Emtez Iberica room for expansion

As recently as a few months ago, Emtez Iberica was still operating out of a small site with distribution capabilities and one manufacturing facility for booms and berms products.

Today, its operating capacity has doubled, fuelled by the new site’s greater footprint but also the automation capabilities built into its production machines. What is tomorrow looking like?15

“Space is one of the biggest limiting factors facing any manufacturer,” the group programme director explains. “An operation is limited by the size of its footprint. In designing and building a new facility with Emtez Iberica, we have expanded its immediate manufacturing capacity, but we have also future-proofed its ability to keep expanding. Additional machines, new product lines, the opportunity to develop our on-site steel offering: whatever that looks like, the potential for future growth is there, for Emtez Iberica and the local industry it is driving.”
